Tendra is a band led by guitarist Mikael Máni Ásmundsson and vocalist Marína Ósk Þórólfsdóttir. The two musicians have worked together since 2014 and have recently started composing their own music as a band. Tendra’s debut album was released in November 2020, by record label Smekkleysa.
Tendra's music has the heart of the modern singer/songwriter, the scent of alternative pop and a base in melodic jazz.
Mikael Máni and Marína Ósk met in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where they both studied jazz. In 2014 they started working together under a different alias, "Marína & Mikael" but in 2020 the band Tendra was born.
Tendra is an Icelandic word meaning "to light something" or "to kindle something".
